This square sinnet of 20 strands comes from the Solid Sinnets chapter in the Ashley Book of Knots, (abbreviated ABoK); this 20-strand sinnet is referred to as ABoK #3073 on certain knot tying websites. In ABoK, the sinnet is referred to as #3073.

  1. A most unusual square braid. The chevrons in the centre of each flat face repeat every 6 cycles. The chevrons spanning the edges repeat every 4 cycles. The whole braid repeats
    at most every 12 cycles (lowest common multiple of 4 and 6)

  2. This braid has exactly 46832 two-colour or less patterns excluding simple colour reversal.
    Most of these are random noise but there are seven patterns which have a high symmetry: In sequence starting from 12 o’clock position on diagram of step1 and proceeding clockwise these are
    (B=black, W=white)
